My college literally sent out an email saying “i know some of you are recovering from the tragic news we have all received last night. For everyone’s mental health, college classes will be cancelled for the next two days to help clear your head.” Like girl

Something similar happened to me in 2016. A day or two after the election, I had an English professor try to “comfort” us and “chat with us about how we were feeling after Trump winning the election.” I immediately called her out on it. I told her that she was wasting our time and money, we paid for an “Introduction to Literature” course, not a politics course, and said I would walk out of the classroom if she continued. I even told her that if she wanted to “comfort her students” like she claimed, she could do it during her office hours. She gave me a shocked look but stopped and continued with what we were supposed to do that day. I got looks from my classmates from it, but I had no regrets. The coddling for college students was ridiculous then and still is now.
